The Empress is a fabulous choice for a shore getaway. Located across from the beach, the Empress features good-sized rooms with good-sized balconies. There's also a pool with an iridescent glow large enough to swim laps. The glamorous lobby has retained its 60's vibe -- the terrazzo floors, floating staircase, tropical plants, and space age furnishings make it special. There's a bar at the pool managed by a warm and friendly bartender and large beach towels are on loan at the front desk. Several excellent restaurants are located across the street, and the legendary Stone Pony is next door. Special thanks to Kristin for making us feel like queens for a day at the Empress!

My partner and I stay at The Empress Hotel a few times a year and are always impressed with the friendly staff. Our rooms are always clean and fully stocked. House keeping is always mindful and courteous. This hotel has a lot of personality and a fun weekend nightlife too!

The room was relatively inexpensive, the staff was friendly but it overall felt bare-bones. It was off season, which is probably why they seemed understaffed (the front desk manager was also tasked with setting up the audio or something for Karaoke that night). The room seemed clean enough overall. The air conditioner's cold temperature button was broken, but luckily the room was comfortable enough at the current setting. The tv had basic cable channels but no standard amenities like movies or even a sheet showing which channels were which. Overall the Empress was fine, the price was fair, especially considering its proximity to the beach. I would consider staying again if I needed to spend the night in Asbury again.

One night at The Empress Hotel was very average. We arrived around 9:30 in the evening on a Sunday and waited about ten to fifteen minutes for the front desk attendant to come out and check us in because he was helping an employee do something somewhere else. It really wasn't an issue to us and he was nice about it. He put us in a nicer room for the wait and that was nice. The hallways leading to the rooms smelled funky, I can't describe the smell, just funky, I was relieved upon entering the room that the room had no smell to it at all. The bathroom to the room was small and a bit outdated but that didn't really matter to me for just one night. I liked the toiletries they provided too, they smelled great! The rest of the room was average, a bunch of lighting available, plenty of outlets for charging your electronics, the t.v. was small but no smaller than any other hotel offers. You will able to hear other guests sliding glass door open and close, which might be good to know for light sleepers. My only real complaint about The Empress Hotel was that the beds were not really comfortable, I suppose it's a preference thing, but I found the bed way too hard with no give at all. Overall, the hotel was clean and pleasant and has whatever you need for a night.

Old kinda' 50's - 60's hotel. Friendly staff. Can get a contact high just walking the hallway. Night club music can be heard all night.... but who cares?! Fun open minded place. Weird, fun pool lighting. Not your Father's Holiday Inn. Gay is OK! Love the balconies and the price! A different world!
